History
After the attack on our country on 9/11/2001, three moms, Patty Martin, Peggy Conklin and Nancy Ecker turned to one another for strength and support. Together they had 4 sons, ages 19 to 22, all serving in the U. S. Army. On that terrible day in September they knew no other families with loved ones in the military. Finding no support groups in Northern California, they reached out in their community. They organized their first meeting in November, 2001 and about thirty Moms from this area attended.
Since that time, our membership has steadily grown to include over 150 moms and we became an official chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America Inc. We conduct casual meetings with most of our time devoted to sharing information about our military kids. We share what we have learned about the military, helping moms with questions from boot camp to deployment and beyond. On occasion we have guest speakers addressing issues of concern and interest to our members. These past five years have brought us knowledge, empathy and friendships.
