| The Blue Star Mothers of America appreciates the quick action of the Department of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff in addressing the concerns of our hospitalized wounded.
Most of our military men and women will not be hospitalized. However, many of those will return carrying the stress and trauma experienced from the War on Terrorism. This coupled with the expectation that those returning and those who have waited can pick up where they left off is unrealistic. The reality of accepting this can be overwhelming as life takes a much different course. History has shown us that by only addressing the physical wounds, we as a Nation are not living up to our commitment to our military that have put their life on the line for our freedoms. We ask that you actively continue to improve mental health diagnosis and programs to help for these men and women who are often forgotten.
Thank you, |
